Starter and Ignition: Inspection and Repair

The Starter

The starter is an electrical motor that turns the flywheel to crank the engine over.  The slower the starter motor turns, the greater the drain on the battery.

When Does It Need To Be Replaced?

The primary sign that a starter needs to be replaced is when it fails to start the engine. Replacing the starter will provide quicker starting; prolong battery life and lessen the stress on electrical cables and connections.

Service Typically Includes

Removing the old starter, installing the new starter, properly tightening the starter to manufacturer’s specifications and then testing the starter for proper operation.
